In a nutshell

I’m a pretty normal human, peculiarities and all. But here’s the brief version.

While my life is most certainly not about me, if we met for the first time and you asked me to quickly describe myself, these 10 descriptions in 20 words would probably do the trick while we get to know each other better. From the top…

Jesus follower

I believe Christ is All. As in Everything. Beginning, End, Lord, Savior, Friend—the whole deal.

Sum up my life and it’s this: I’m on a never ending pursuit to uncover the inexpressible, incalculable treasure of Jesus. As the apostle Paul wrote, “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach … the unsearchable riches of Christ.” Join me on the hunt as my faith continues to evolve and grow.

Family man

Words do no justice to my amazing wife, Nicole, and our three outstanding kids, Riley, Tolan, and Beckett. Happily (and I mean very happily) married since 2005 and a dad since 2006, I know I have a lot more ahead of me, and I intend to enjoy every part of the adventure. My family rocks.

People lover

I’m an extrovert, yes, but it goes beyond that. I love people. All kinds. From all walks of life. If I’m to be known for anything, I hope for it to be my radical love of God and others. I genuinely want to know and love you, too.

Serial starter

I’ve enjoyed over two decades of starting stuff, especially digital stuff. After starting my first neighborhood business at age 11, it was all over—my destiny was written. All the projects I’ve contributed to over the years will give you a taste for what I’m talking about. Creating something from nothing is my gig.

Community builder

As a second generation Arizona native who’s made a permanent home in Phoenix, I’ve done quite a bit to serve the communities in which I find myself. From planting churches that meet in homes to starting citywide efforts that serve all types of entrepreneurs, I find great satisfaction in building up the places and people around me.

Tentmaker, Phoenix dweller, film nerd, iced americano addict, and cranial nudist

As for these other tidbits and factoids, they’re all true. But we don’t have to talk about that stuff too much. Just know that I’m committed to ministering without being paid, I truly appreciate Arizona as a home, I’m slightly fairly snobbish about movies, I drink iced americanos almost daily, and I’ve been shaving my head for years. (Though I’m not trying to cheat by fitting in one more, I’m also a recovering doer; that’s a newer one on the list.) We’ll just call this “the rest of the story” about me.

Finally, it’s worth restating that, while I appreciate your interest in learning more about me, I want you to know that my life is most definitely not about me. (Seriously.)
