It’s about the habit, not the output

Recently, I watched a video of James Clear, author of Atomic Habits (which is a great book, and I highly recommend you read it), talking about how he built out his phenomenal website. He planned to publish every Monday and Thursday, regardless of the output.

If he liked it, he would post it. If he didn’t like it, he would post it.

If he wrote 3,000 words, he would post it. If he wrote 3 sentences, he would post it.

Point is—it was about the habit, not the output. It was about what he did, not how good it was. It was about the cadence, not the conclusion.

I’m taking a similar approach with my latest web creation, and I’m excited to see the results. In doing so, I’ve already built out:

  • A website roadmap of sorts via my all the things page, where I have a lot of future links. This inspires me to keep going and gives me somewhere to focus next as I develop new content.

  • A really fun page where I credit the people who have impacted me, including my family. Grab your popcorn. 🍿

  • My 2020 year in review, giving me a solid framework and template for 2021 and beyond.

  • A first version of a template for my themes, wherein I highlight my work and thoughts around Contrarian Christian living.

  • An improved version of my not about me page, where I’ve added some better graphics to spice it up a bit.

  • Improved navigation within my very pink footer

I’m excited to keep it moving forward, whatever the outcome.
